BassLine Music respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
1. Who We Are
BassLine Music is a music instruction business owned and operated by Mikael Jacobson in Rancho Mirage, California. We provide private music lessons to students in the Coachella Valley.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following information directly from you when you do business with us:
- Contact information: name, mobile phone number, email address, and mailing address (when provided)
- Lesson information: instrument, skill level, and lesson scheduling history
- Payment information: handled by our payment processor; we do not store full credit card numbers on our systems
- Lesson details: scheduled date and time, and notes from your lessons
We also collect limited information automatically when you visit palmspringsmusiclessons.com, including basic analytics such as page views and the type of device used. We do not use behavioral advertising trackers.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Schedule and perform private music lessons and instruction
- Maintain accurate records of lessons and payments
- Contact you about your lessons, including reminders and follow-ups
- Process your payment
- If you opt in (a verbal OK you give us, which we record at that moment): send up to two (2) text messages asking if you'd be willing to leave a Google review (see SMS section below)
- Operate and improve our business and website
4. SMS Communications and Text Message Reviews
BassLine Music operates an SMS-based review-request program. If you opt in — by giving BassLine Music your verbal OK, which we record at that moment — we may send up to two (2) text messages:
- One message shortly after a recent lesson asking if you'd consider leaving a Google review
- One reminder message within 48 hours if you have not yet replied or opted out
Message frequency: Maximum of 2 messages per opt-in. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages — only review requests directly tied to your lessons with us.
Carrier charges: Message and data rates may apply per your wireless carrier's rate plan.
Opt-out: You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message we send. Replying HELP returns contact information. Opting out is immediate and does not affect your lessons with BassLine Music.
Data we collect for SMS purposes: Your name, mobile phone number, and the date of your recent lesson. We use this data only to send the review-request messages described above. We do not sell, share, or rent your phone number to third parties. SMS opt-in data is not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
Service provider: Text messages are sent through Twilio, a third-party SMS delivery service, in compliance with U.S. carrier regulations, including 10DLC registration.

5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate our business:
- No regulator requires disclosure of this information
- With our payment processor to process your transaction
- With Twilio to deliver SMS messages, if you've opted in
- With Google Business Profile, if you choose to leave a public Google review (the review itself is public by your choice)
- With service providers who help us operate our business (website hosting, scheduling software, etc.), under confidentiality obligations
We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or government request.
6. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as needed to provide lessons and operate our business. Phone numbers in our SMS program are retained for the duration of your relationship with us; you can request earlier deletion at any time.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the information we have about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your information (subject to our standard business record-keeping practices)
- Opt out of our SMS program at any time by replying STOP
- For California residents: BassLine Music operates below the coverage thresholds of the California Consumer Privacy Act, so those statutory rights do not currently apply to this business

8. Children's Privacy
BassLine Music offers lessons to students of all ages, including children. We collect contact information from adults — a parent or guardian for students under 18 — and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Our SMS review-request program is directed only at adults.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective Date" at the top reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
